Revenue Benefits
Having an open entry for any and all dog sports, would bring in a higher gross revenue for the AKC ( Or any other registry for that matter). It would offer an opportunity to offer competing kennels a bigger purse. A bigger purse with bigger entry numbers, would also guarantee more press coverage. With larger competitions that hold public interest , a large variety f dogs competing, a registry could partner with ESPN, and have an entire channel devoted to dog sports.
Perhaps if the AKC and other registries could make more money in this fashion, they could stop charging for things that should be public knowledge, such as pedigree information, or an interactive database that shows all registerable information on a dog.
More working titles and large competitions, would offer options for different lifestyles, to have a responsible breeding program, with proven dogs. The pet overpopulation crisis continues to rise, and it is critical to set an example for anyone with a dog. The bar must be raised, for what a breeding quality dog must be able to do.
